An individual who spiked sweets with sedative and gave them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two young males both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the facility in July.
The 76-year-old, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the courthouse on recently.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the court.
She explained his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had engaged in this activity with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She explained the man had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in summer 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said materials including baby oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his worries.
She stated Ruben proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.
The legal representative explained the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member contacted the law enforcement once more.
She said the defendant then engaged in the "candy game" in a room of five minors.
